Alison Kondler is an Audubon Master Birder, naturalist, producer, and content creator. Her life passion is to help others become aware of birds and the multitude of sounds they create. Appreciation fosters conservation.
Growing up with a prairie as her backyard, Alison echoed the sounds of nature, especially that of birds, from a very young age using mouth sounds. Her first full-on bird conversation with a male Western Meadowlark happened at the of age nine. In her late teens she took this talent to the stage as a stand-up comic, for five years, shocking audiences with unexpected sounds.
She is a keynote speaker on the topic of bird sound identification using mnemonic-based techniques for auditory, visual, and emotional learning styles and is an expert birding field trip leader. She also speaks on the topic of growing your brand on vertical social media platforms.

The Front Range of Colorado is a birdwatcher’s paradise, with a diverse range of habitats and species to discover. The foothills region in particular offers a unique mix of grasslands, riparian corridors, and ponderosa pine forests, making it an ideal location for birding. Some of the most sought-after species in this region include the Northern pygmy owl, Golden Eagle, American Dipper, Lazuli Bunting, Yellow-breasted Chat, Black-chinned hummingbird, and Spotted Towhee.
During this excursion, we will be searching for resident and migrating avian species, honing into the bird’s auditory characteristics, and using mnemonic-based techniques to help connect the bird back to its sound.

Let’s go bat-watching! We will hike an easy-to-moderate two-mile loop in a beautiful geological park along the Littleton, CO foothills. Here, we will look for birds and then bats at dusk. The hike will be led by Alison Kondler, a Colorado Parks and Wildlife Volunteer Naturalist and Denver Audubon Master Birder. She will be using her Echo Meter Touch Bat Detector, which identifies bat species by their echolocation calls in real time.
Free event. Early sign-up is encouraged. All skill levels, from beginners to seasoned birdwatchers, are welcome, and participants must be 18 years of age or older. You will receive detailed information via email the day before the field trip.
Please bring binoculars (if you have them), a flashlight, closed-toe shoes, water, and snacks.

Four species of hummingbirds make their way through Colorado in late summer and fall including, Broad-tailed, Black-chinned, Rufous, and Calliope on their migration back south. It is an amazing sight to see, though trying to identify one species from another can be a challenging endeavor, especially with females and juveniles. In this workshop, we will look for specific field marks, bill shapes, head shapes, and behaviors while also listening intently to their many hums, trills, and call notes. This workshop will give you new ideas to help make identifying these fast flyers a little bit easier. This fun workshop is for new to expert bird enthusiasts
Bring binoculars, a hat, sunglasses, water, a camera, and snacks.
Location: Private residence in the mountains of Lyons, CO. The house offers incredible close-up views of hummingbirds with their many feeders in a beautiful wooded area. There will also be great opportunities to see and hear other mountain bird species. The exact location and more information will be emailed to registered participants on the day before the event.
Note: To help the group focus on bird sounds and learning, photography with mirrorless or DSLR cameras will not be allowed until the last hour of the workshop.
