Roxborough State Park – Presentation and Hike

April 29 @ 8:00 am - 11:00 am

Free

Whether you are new to birdsong identification, or an expert who needs a little fine-tuning, you’ll be sure to gain valuable knowledge from this course. We will start with an indoor presentation, then take our new found skills outside on an easy 1.5 mile guided bird walk. Returning between 10:30am to 11:00am.

Roxborough State Park is one of the most beautiful parks in Colorado. Let’s explore this unique landscape, finding nesting birds and concentrate on identifying them by their sounds. We will walk along Willow Creek Trail 1.4 miles in length which winds through spectacular rock formations, valleys, and natural meadows. Expect a very small amount of hill climbing with easy effort.

Possible birds species include: Peregrine Falcon, Prairie Falcon, Lazuli Bunting, Black-headed Grosbeak, Black-chinned Hummingbird, Broad-tailed Hummingbird, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Canyon Wren, Yellow-breasted Chat, MacGillivray’s Warbler, Yellow Warbler, Spotted Towhee, Green-tailed Towhee, Bullock’s Oriole, Cordilleran Flycatcher, Dusky Flycatcher, Plumbeous Vireo, Woodhouse’s Scrub-jay, Bushtit, Black-capped Chickadee, Mountain Chickadee, White-breasted Nuthatch, Brown Creeper and much more!

Meeting inside the visitor center’s auditorium. Bring binoculars, water, and snacks.
